MyUdutu
Just discovered a really useful and free on-line tool.
MyUdutu is easy-to-use online learning authoring software that allows you to build your course very quickly no matter where you are, and no matter who you need to involve.
I have just tested it, it is easy to learn and use. I extracted the course and placed it in Moodle. It was so simple.
Each course can be extracted as a self contained SCORM compliant ZIP file; meaning you can put your course on a CD, USB thumbdrive or even host it on your own server or LMS. Extractions are completely free.
So if you are a school, college or training provider and you have an on-line learning site like Moodle that is Scorm compliant then this resource is perfect. If you deliver NVQs and Apprenticeships like the company I work for (Intec Business Colleges) then start Planning for Success and Get on Course with your on-line learning facility and sign up for this great FREE resource.

Plagiarism
If you have set some work for your learners/students that involves researching material in books or the web then you may need to check that they have not copied the work. There are many programmes and on-line resources to check for plagiarism. Most of these cost money. However, there are some on-line resources that are free, here are some I have found:
A PowerToy that allows you to right-click on one or more image files in Windows Explorer to resize them.
Microsoft Save as PDF
This download allows you to export and save to the PDF and XPS formats in eight 2007 Microsoft Office programs. It also allows you to send as e-mail attachment in the PDF and XPS formats in a subset of these programs.
I have been using this great little programme for a couple of years now. I generally use it if I wish to rename a lot of images to better describe what they are. It is very easy to download and install and very easy to use.
A.F.5 makes it easy to rename many files at the same time. Drag and drop your files from Microsoft® Windows® Explorer to the window of A.F.5, build new filenames and click Rename.
Password Recovery
Not sure if this works yet. I will be trying this later today. Here is a link to the instructions to get back into a pc where the admin password has been lost.
Page Turning
Just found a really great site. It allows you to publish PDF documents that allows people to navigate them as a page turner. The service is free, however for a monthly fee you can have adverts removed.
Publish and share your publications for free and embed on websites, blogs, and social networks.
I would compare it with YouTube as in it is like the the YouTube of Page turning.
Here is an example
Snipping Tool
You can use Snipping Tool to capture a screen shot, or snip, of any object on your screen, and then annotate, save, or share the image. Simply use a mouse or tablet pen to capture any of the following types of snips:
•Free-form Snip. Draw an irregular line, such as a circle or a triangle, around an object.
•Rectangular Snip. Draw a precise line by dragging the cursor around an object to form a rectangle.
•Window Snip. Select a window, such as a browser window or dialog box, that you want to capture.
•Full-screen Snip. Capture the entire screen when you select this type of snip.
This tool comes installed with Window Vista and Window 7, although it is a free download from Microsoft if you need to use it on earlier versions of Windows
doPDF
doPDF is a free PDF converter for both personal and commercial use. Using doPDF you can create PDF files by selecting the "Print" command from virtually any application. With one click you can convert your Microsoft Excel, Word or PowerPoint documents or your emails and favorite web sites to PDF files.
I found this very useful when I need to create a file with a selection of pages from a large document. You simply open the PDF document then print to doPDF selecting the range of pages e.g. 115-122
